Responsible people

Every block raises the same question: who is in charge of it? The answer sits right below the title, as small name badges with initials. That way you see it without expanding a block, in the editor as well as in the read view.

Every block can have responsible people, a break just as much as an input. Sections, breakouts and strands don’t have their own; there you enter the people on the blocks.

  1. Click + responsible below a block’s title.
  2. Type the name. Below the field, the browser suggests the members of your workspace who aren’t on the block yet.
  3. Pick a suggestion or press Enter. Clicking outside the field also takes the name.

Repeat this for each additional person. Escape clears the field without adding anything.

GoodWorkshop distinguishes two kinds of responsible people:

Member external
Who someone from your workspace everyone else, for example the client’s management or an external co-trainer
Display filled circle with initials dashed circle with initials and the word external
Name follows the member’s current name stays the way you typed it

When you hover over a badge, it says Member or Not a member of this workspace.

How GoodWorkshop decides: If you type a member’s name exactly as it appears in the workspace, it becomes that member. Upper and lower case don’t matter. Everything else is entered as an external person. A partial name like “Mira” isn’t guessed, even if there is only one Mira. In that case, take the suggestion from the list.

A block can have several responsible people, up to 20. Each person appears only once on a block: a member who is already added disappears from the suggestions. If you type an external name a second time, it isn’t added twice. The badges appear in the order in which you added them.

  • Click the small × on the badge.
  • Or press Backspace in the empty + responsible field: that removes the person added last.
  • Parking and moving: The responsible people stay on the block, even when you park it or bring it over to another day. See Parking area.
  • Printing and exporting: The names go along.
  • A member leaves the workspace: The name stays on the block, as it was last saved.

A connected AI assistant can also set responsible people. For a member, it needs their full name (first and last name) exactly as it appears in the workspace; any other name becomes an external person. See Tool reference.
